Andre Leung, a senior from Hong Kong who studies at Milton Academy, hopes to use Tangsta to uncover the cultural diversity of Chinese businesses that are vital to our community in the Greater Boston Area.

In addition, Tangsta hopes to explore the relevance of Chinese narrative in America while simultaneously promoting their work and sharing their stories with the Greater Boston community.

Through Tangsta, Andre intends to not only learn about their nuanced success stories, but also to highlight the impact their business has towards each and every of their customers.

Tangsta believes in capturing stories of and within a Chinese business—anything from its founding to its employees—to present a more approachable side of the business.

In an interview format, these stories are presented through video, audio, or text.

In addition, Tangsta aims to promote the businesses themselves—the location and the products themselves—through photos and videos to ensure it receives maximum exposure.

In an increasingly digital world, online exposure is often key to businesses’ success.

Through promotion on Tangsta’s digital platform, these businesses will maximise their reputation in the communities they serve.

This digitalisation initiative is crucial especially when AAPI businesses have faced, despite showing persistent tenacity and endurance, limited access to financial resources and technical help.

The platform has three main functions: business discovery, price indexing, and storytelling.

For those who don’t know much, you can use the directory to discover new businesses to patronise.

When you need the most current information on your favourite businesses, you can check out the price indexes of various common goods such as egg tarts and fried rice.

Interested to learn more about what goes on behind-the-scenes in these businesses? What are the circumstances of the people who work there, and what is their unique story? You can learn more, through video interviews and picture documentations, about the people who rely on these businesses.

No matter, where you are in your journey of being more aware of the Chinese communities around you, I hope you find the same joy taking in my project as I did making it.
